How are the mighty fallen

The thing about Drayton Parslow is, you may think he's dogmatic and not over-bright. But you have to admire his heart for people and his dedication. He's spent all day out on a rope tied between two trees, learning to tight-rope walk. He has adopted the phrase "narrow is the rope that leads to salvation"  from the rather poor-translated Funambulist's Bible and is trying to get himself fit to lead his new flock.

Seeing him after eight hours, covered in hoar-frost from the cold and bruises from falling off, I eventually said he could put the rope up in St Bogwulf's Chapel. It's no warmer in there, and the floor is stone and his falls will hurt even more. But at least now I won't have to look at him.

However I left him with an alarmed look on his face. Congratulated him on his whole-hearted adoption of inculturation. That's got him worried.
