The King James Version - Making it Clear

I am shocked and stunned.

Following the links on Eileen's "Folk we light a tea light for", I have discovered someone from the Wycliffe Bible Translators, who has published two posts called "Authorised Myths" and "More on Authorised Myths".

I am sure that Wycliffe himself, prophetically aware that he was, humbly and imperfectly, working the way towards the Authorised Version, would be shocked. The idea that the "original" texts themselves are more inspired than the Authorised Version - how could this be? Surely the "original" texts themselves were merely the stuttering, imperfect attempts by men (men - note - their womenfolk clearly having the task of bringing them the Biblical equivalent of a nice cup of tea from time to time) to write down God's words in their own languages. Miraculously granted the power of translation from  a form of English already slightly archaic in 17th Century England, they wrote down what they could. However clearly in going from the perfect to the imperfect (i.e. from God's own language to Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic) they were always going to suffer from inaccuracies, which they knew could only be corrected in 1611.

So there we have it - the King James Version. The only true Bible Version, true forever and every word inspired. Except, of course, the Apocrypha, which they only translated for a bit of a fun while they were waiting for the printers to get the presses set up.
